Sitting just one hundred feet from the bay, this cottage has great access to the seashore, with deep water moorage, as well as a place where you can launch your kayak or canoe. From the end of July to the beginning of September it's fun to surf cast off the ledges in front of the cottage and catch mackerel and pollock.
Not far from the cottage are some of the area's most spectacular hiking trails such as the "Bold Coast Trail and the Western Head Trail." Both of these have sections of high bluffs that offer the visitor views of our rock bound coastline with crashing surf.
Located overland from the cottage is Machias Bay where the first battle of Revolutionary War was fought. The town of Machias offers the visitor a view of the past when visiting the historic "Burnham Tavern" where the first battle was planned.
In our area you can also tour the Indian Rock Carvings by kayak. These petroglyphs were left by the Algonquin Indians thousands of years ago. View the Viking mooring stone on Long Point or visit nearby Cutler Harbor and climb aboard the Barbara Frost and visit Machias Seal Island to see the Atlantic Puffins as well as harbor and gray seals along with other wildlife.
