Located on Kennebec Bay in the town of Roque Bluffs Maine, this roomy secluded cottage nestles into it's spruce & fir backdrop and provides a quiet, private escape with a wonderful view of the ocean. The cottage is built on a point, and the tip of the lot has water on three sides.
Sitting just one hundred feet from the bay, this cottage has great access to the seashore, with deep water moorage, as well as a place where you can launch your kayak or canoe. From the end of July to the beginning of September it's fun to surf cast off the ledges in front of the cottage and catch mackerel and pollock.
The cottage is 7 miles from the center of the town of Machias, Downeast Maine's shiretown, with all it's amenities. From here you are just an hour and a half from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor as well as from Bangor, or a fifty minute drive to Campobello Island.
Not far from the cottage are some of the area's most spectacular hiking trails such as the "Bold Coast Trail and the Western Head Trail." Both of these have sections of high bluffs that offer the visitor views of our rock bound coastline with crashing surf.
Located overland from the cottage is Machias Bay where the first battle of Revolutionary War was fought. The town of Machias offers the visitor a view of the past when visiting the historic "Burnham Tavern" where the first battle was planned.
In our area you can also tour the Indian Rock Carvings by kayak. These petroglyphs were left by the Algonquin Indians thousands of years ago. View the Viking mooring stone on Long Point or visit nearby Cutler Harbor and climb aboard the Barbara Frost and visit Machias Seal Island to see the Atlantic Puffins as well as harbor and gray seals along with other wildlife.
The cottage has three bedrooms (two with skylights), 2 full baths, complete kitchen, living room/dinning room with cathedral ceiling, TV room, sitting room, and full front deck overlooking the bay.
This cottage sleeps up to six people and comes complete with 2 queen and 2 twin beds, washer, dryer, satellite TV, high speed Internet access, VCR/DVD, coffee maker, microwave, dishwasher, phone, cast iron fireplace/wood stove, outdoor gas grill and firepit, firewood and linens.
