Indian Point House

Indian Point House - front view

Click for a map showing property location The Indian Point House is a delightful refurbished 3 bedroom cape located on the outskirts of Machias, Maine.

Indian Point House - view of river and island Overlooking beautiful Machias Bay, the house is situated close to the confluence of the Machias and East Machias rivers, and is strategically located to take in the frequent flights of shorebirds, ducks, ospreys and eagles which are attracted to this rich estuary to feed.

This gauntlet also funnels many harbor seals along with striped bass into the estuary. The property has a diverse, ever-changing tidal frontage that will have guests gazing for hours.

This house is only a 10 minute drive from the center of Machias, with its fine dining restaurants, shops and large grocery store which features wonderful fresh deli, seafood and produce sections. The house also comes with a canoe available for guests who would like to paddle up the rivers or out into the bay.

Indian Point House - arbor deck The first floor also boasts a convenient full bath plus a library and separate TV room. All three bedrooms are located upstairs, as well as a spacious full bath with tub and shower.

The master bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed with feather comforter. A neat feature of the master bedroom is the bay view cut-out window which provides a view of the water through the living room’s cathedral window. The guest bedrooms offer one double bed and one twin bed.

Another wonderful feature of the house is its spacious arbor deck with Adirondack chairs and gas grill. Here, guests can enjoy the water view while grilling their favorite meals.

The Indian Point House is just a short drive from Jasper Beach, with its expansive cobble storm-wash beach and surf. There are two terrific hiking trails located in Cutler that are only a 20 minute drive from the house. Known as the Bold Coast and Western Head trails, these hikes both skirt along the edge of rugged ocean cliffs and scenic vistas. Both trails are a must hike when visiting the Machias area.

Another must do while in the area is the Atlantic Puffin Tours offered by Captain Andy Patterson aboard the Barbara Frost out of Cutler harbor. These beautiful robust parrot like seabirds only frequent a few of the rugged off shore islands along the Maine coast and Cutler is blessed with having Machias Seal Island only 9 miles from its shores where these colorful birds nest from the spring to late summer. Hearts of Maine’s guests enjoy these tours and we recommend them highly.
